Classes Taught
(Re)Claiming Voices and Sharing Stories in Chicanx/Latinx Communities
Drawing on Chicana-Latina feminisms, this course centers story-telling as (1) a method to (re)claim Chicanx-Latinx voices and histories in multiple spaces and institutions, including families and communities; and (2) as a form of everyday resistance and institutional transformation. Along with reading and discussing the latest books on Chicana-Latina voices and testimonials, students will complete oral histories and collectively build spaces to publically share stories and the lessons learned from their (re)search.

Chicanxs/Latinxs and Education

Focusing on Chicanxs and Latinxs in the United States, this course examines the structure of our educational institution and the manifestations of power, privilege, inequality, and exclusion. We also consider forms of resistance, examining the ways Chicanxs-Latinxs and allies are challenging inequality and working toward change.
